Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu, we embark on a 200 km journey to Pokhara. We ride easy, as we cruise down the winding curves of Bara Bise on our Bullet Enfields. Flanked by the majestic Machapucchera (Fishtail) Peak and the Annapurna & Dhaulagiri ranges, scenic Pokhara lies on the banks of Fewa Tal (Lake). A day in Pokhara gives us ample time to explore the city’s hot spots. Traversing mountains and hillside villages we make our way down to the hot and humid Terai and head to Lumbini - the birthplace of Lord Buddha. The main attraction over here is the Sacred Garden which has a temple dedicated to Maya Devi (Lord Buddha’s mother), the Ashoka Pillar and a museum. There are some beautiful monasteries built by Buddhist devotees from world over. Our next stop is Sauraha. Situated in the midst of Chitwan National Park, Sauraha promises some really wild and fun filled moments. Take an elephant ride or jeep safari and explore the wild, visit a Tharu village or simply beat the heat by taking a cooling dip at the nearest river, together with the pachyderms - there’s so much to do in Sauraha! We make the final leg of our journey, as we leave Sauraha behind and ride back to Kathmandu.
