Your ride through the Tibetan plateau - the ‘Roof of the World’ begins from Lhasa. In Lhasa discover the majestic Potala Palace, Norbulingka Jokhang temple and visit two important centres of Tibetan Buddhism Sera and Drepung Monastries. Ride through the ancient dzongs(fortress) and citadels in Gyantse and shop for bargains at Shigatse’s local market . Riding past Tibetan settlements and nomadic herdsmen arrive in Rongbuk and to Everest Base Camp(5520m). Explore the surreally sculpted Rongbuk Glacier and marvel at the awe-inspiring view of the world’s highest mountain Mount Everest towering right above. Ride across two high mountain passes (Lalung La at 5124m and Shug La at 5200m) and descend to Zhangmu. Leaving behind Tibet’s arid landscape you ride down to green and verdant Kodari on the Nepal side and then finally to Kathmandu.
