Grab one Enfield, that is perfectly fine if you own it, or you can rent it from places of Kathmandu. There are number of places to be around in Kathmandu. You will have option of other vehicles to move around, but mark it – the best thing is something you can drive on your own and move around as per your wishes.
Initiating with travelling around Patan Durbar Square, where ancient monuments can be seen including Krishna Temple and old palace. There is good parking facility, where the bike can be parked and time can be spent in museum too. There are good coffee stalls around. Once done with Patan Durbar Square, we shall ride next till Swyambhu. Since, it cannot be possible to take the vehicle till the top, there are appropriate places to park and move ahead.
Located at the top of the hill in western side of city, it means Tree in Tibetan language. Observing variety of shrines and temples, which had long history, we can then get down and grab our bike and move further ahead. Being around Pashupatinath is something so good in the evening. Hence, we take our late lunch and ride, overcoming the crowded street and reach Pashupatinath. There are enough places to park the bike, and one should not worry about. Getting into the territory, we observe how death rituals are observed by Hindu community. There will be Aarati going on during the evening that is something not to be missed.
Once done with Aarati, Boudhanath stupa is just nearby and around 5 minutes of ride will take someone down there. It is good to be around Boudhanth during the day, but evening time is perfect. There are good lightning’s that one can observe. Parking the bike somewhere around, one can then get into the area. Spending some quality time being around Boudhanath stupa, we will then get back to our destination.
Somewhere in between our ride, we will get to see other places like Ghantaghar, the popular icon of Nepal; Rani Pokhari – popular pond located in the heart of the Kathmandu valley. We shall have quick check of Dharahara as well, which was destroyed by earthquake around. It is important to taste Momos, while in Kathmandu – depending on our choice, we get into some popular and renowned Momo Outlets and try Momos as well.
Since, we will be riding motor bikes throughout the day; we will be dusty by the evening. Hence, we take one simple shower and end our day with proper rest.
No matter where so ever you are travelling in Nepal, you certainly should allocate one single day to have Biking Experience in Kathmandu. It’s certainly amazing!
