Kathmandu- Lhasa- Kathmandu Motorbike Expedition is an opportunity to discover the feeling of high altitude ride along vegetation free landscape experiencing complete wilderness. The ride on the Royal Enfield Bikes along 1000km long stretch of Friendship Highway is a real opportunity to be into the extraordinary environment of Tibet. Breathtaking Tibetan landscapes, authentic Tibetan culture, the adventurous joy of riding across six 5000m plus passes and the opportunity be under the shadows of Everest for almost a week are the biggest highlights of Motorcycle Expedition.

Highway that joins Kathmandu and Lhasa along the foothills of Himalayan giants caters unrivaled scenery—windswept Tibetan landscapes, magical highland lakes and the dramatic rise and fall of the winding curves of the highway. All we ask of you is just that you have to be here and the rest from bikes to spares and every bit of hospitality we can provide in this hidden Shangri-La shall be our pleasure.

After many motorway challenges faced and conquered for the first 100 kilometers to Kodari, the ride gets truly adventurous as soon as it begins to chase the celebrated Highway. Roads and the driving conditions on the highway best suit these superbikes. Flanking Tibetan landscapes, snaky lefts and rights, soaring passes close to the sky and sites of treasured culture during the frequent stopovers- this ride genuinely offers the pleasures of lifetime.

DAY 01: Ride to Nyalam (3750m) 183km
After the breakfast, the biking expedition hits the road along the most exciting Nepalese highway, Araniko Highway. As you reach to the last, Nepalese town Kodari you will go through the immigration formalities before you ride over the Friendship Bridge and enter the autonomous region of China-Tibet. Then, you will separate with your Nepalese guide and driver, and walk across the river to meet your Tibetan escort who will drive you to Zhangmu. After driving 123km for 5 hours, you will arrive to Zhangmu 2300m. An hour-long drive will finally bring you to Nyalam where you will stop the day’s ride.

DAY 02: Rest day at Nyalam for acclimatization
Today, we will have a day rest at Nyalam. After gaining the altitude from 1400m in Kathmandu to 3750m at Nyalam, a day rest to acclimatize height is very essential. However, the rest day in Nyalam involves short hiking activities around the city.

DAY 03: Ride to Tingri [4390m] 217km
After breakfast early in the morning, you will resume your motorcycle expedition towards Tingri traversing through green lower hills into the dry and arid landscape of the Tibetan Plateau. We cross several high passes including the Lalung La 5124m and Thong La Pass 5120m, which offers the most breathtaking panorama of the Himalayan range including Mt Everest Mt. Cho You and Mt. Makalu.

DAY 04: Ride to Shigatse [3900m] 244km
Today after breakfast, you will navigate along the Friendship Highway amidst picturesque landscape driving past small town of Lhatse and Lhakpa La Pass 5267m. Prior to the Lhakpa La, pass the route opens into plains, many monasteries and camps of nomadic herders become visible just after a short drive beyond Shegar. Along the ride, you can bask in the splendor of majestic views of snow-capped peaks four 8000m+ Himalayan peaks, which includes Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyo and Lhotse. En route, you will let go your exhaustion bathing in Xiquin Hot Springs at Dongba. Via Tra La, Pass 4050m 5 hours of long ride you will bring you to the next Tibetan town-Shigatse 3900m, a second largest city in Tibet.

DAY 05: Ride to Lhasa [3650m] 351km
Today you will continue your biking trip along the Freindship Highway. Driving the first 90km will bring you to the City of Gyantse 3950m. Gyantse prides on Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum. Gyantse Dzong, a 14th century historical fort, overlooks the entire Gyantse and the surrounding Nyang Chu Valley. Kumbum has a large gold-domed stupa and houses with several chapels and Tibetan Buddhist murals. Post lunch at Gyantse, you will continue your trip towards Lhasa. Cross passing Karo La Pass 5010m you will witness the huge glaciers tumbling down the further more riding will bring you to the extraordinary Yam Drok Tso Lake [turquoise lake] at 4447m. Then the ride slides up to the Khamba La Pass at 4794m and then the road swiftly takes you to the Tibetan capital Lhasa. At Lhasa, you will ride in to your designated hotel. Once you reach Lhasa, our Motorbike Expedition ends and we will be starting our Lhasa Sightseeing Tour on a four-wheeler form the following day.

DAY 06: Sightseeing at Lhasa
After an early breakfast, you will be start sightseeing tour on motorbike with your guide to the majestic Potala Palace. The imposing structure of the palace dominates the landscape of Lhasa. As you are guided through the ancient chambers of the palace, you get to see Tibetan art at its best. The Potala Palace has a vast array of intricate Tibetan murals and beautiful statues. You will also get to view the tombs of the eight Dalai Lamas. Later in the day, you will visit the beautifully located Drepung Monastery where you can observe nuns and monks chanting and performing religious discourses. After the day’s tour is over, you are escorted back to your hotel for a well- earned rest.

DAY 07: Sightseeing at Lhasa
Even today, you will continue your exploration in Lhasa. The places you can visit are Sera Monastery, Jhokhang Temple. On the other hand, you can simply wonder in the lively streets of Barkhor Square, which will let you experience the typical Tibetan culture blended with modernity.

DAY 08: Ride to Gyantse (3950m) 261 km
You ride your motorbike along the Friendship Highway, past the Khamba La, at 4794 meter, with a brief halt to savor majestic views of Yamdrok-tso Lake and Nazin Kang Sa, standing at 7252m. Your lunch will be served at Naghaste. On turning westwards, you come across another pass, Karo La at 5045m. From the road you see huge glaciers tumbling down. After driving for some time, beautifully landscaped Tibetan villages become visible as you enter the town of Gyantse. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 09: Sightseeing in Gyantse & ride to Shigatse (3900m) 90km
After you enjoy exploring Gyantse, taking a 90 km drive, you will arrive at Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet that lies at an altitude of 3900 m. Tashilhunpo Monastery, being one of the largest functioning monasteries in Tibet is the major attraction of Shigatse. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 10: Sightseeing & ride to Shegar (4050m) 244km
Today you will traverse along the Friendship Highway amidst picturesque landscape driving past small towns of Lhatse and Gymasto La pass at 5220m. As the route opens into the plain, many monasteries and camps of nomadic herders become visible en route to Shegar. Along the ride, you can bask in the splendor of majestic views of snow-capped peaks from Makalu to Shishapangma etc. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 11: Ride to Rongbuk (5000m) and back to Shegar 68km
After breakfast you will ride towards Rongbuk. This morning you have the opportunity to explore Everest Base Camp (5150m.) After riding for 68 km, you eventually reach Rongbuk at 5000m. You can then view spectacular sight of Mount Everest. The base camp itself is dry and barren, but the views of Everest more than compensates for it. It truly is an awe-inspiring place with the sheer north face of the highest mountain in the world towering above you. Later you ride back to Shegar. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 12: Ride to Zhangmu (2300m) 181km
You will drive past Tingri crossing Lalung La pass at 5124m and Shug La pass at 5200m. Savoring the enchanting views of the surrounding peaks of Shishapangma, Cho Oyu, Menlungtse and Gauri Shankar, you descend from the arid Tibetan Plateau to verdant Zhangmu on the Nepalese border. After driving for 181 km, you find yourself amidst the lush and verdant vegetation of Zhangmu at 2300 meter. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 13: Ride to Kathmandu (1400m) 123km
After a few kilometers drive away from Zhangmu to Friendship Bridge across Bhote Koshi river brings you to the Immigration Control in Kodari. Here, you will part with your Tibetan guide and driver, and walk across the river to meet your Nepalese escort who will drive you to Kathmandu. After driving 5 hours for 123 km, you finally arrive in Kathmandu. Service ends.
