Mid-Nepal Ride is an ideal biking adventure that takes us to the popular landmarks of Nepal highlighting contrasting aspects of country’s extreme diversity. Beginning our trip from Kathmandu we ride to the tiny mountainside village of Daman. Daman standing at an elevation of 2,322 meters offers a breathtaking panorama of the loftiest mountains in the world- Dhaulagiri in the far-west to Mt. Everest in the far-east.
From Daman we descend to the hotspot for wildlife activities and prospering Tharu culture, Sauraha. Located in the sub-tropical jungle of Chitwan National Park, Sauraha offers many jungle activities – elephant rides and jeep safaris, bird watching, canoeing, village walk, elephant bathing etc.
Leaving Sauraha we make our way to the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site – Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. After paying our respects at the Maya Devi Temple and exploring the many chaityas and monasteries, we hit the road to Pokhara.
Pokhara, set against the picture perfect backdrop of giant Himalayan peaks and glittering lakes has captured the heart of many travelers. We take a day off to rest our mean machines and sore muscles, and take in the wonders of Pokhara. We come to our trip’s finale as we make our way to Kathmandu.

DAY 01: Ride from Kathmandu to Daman 56 km 2.5 hrs ride
The first day of the Mid-Nepal Ride comprises myriads of twists and turns along the most serpentine section of Prithivi Highway and Tribhuvan Highway. Exiting out of Kathmandu Valley is a wonderful and thrilling ride as it wind pass the downhill turns of Thankot hill all the all way to Naubise. From Naubise the uphill ride along the similar road takes us to Daman. Only 56 kilometers of total road journey takes almost 150 minutes to cover so you could possibly imagine the road conditions – most of the times pitched but also snaky. On arriving Daman, we ride into our hotel.
Daman 2322m is a small village inside Thaha Municipality famous for catering exceedingly beautiful widespread views of Himalayas from Dhaulagiri in the west to Everest in the East. Enjoy a day at Daman leisurely.
DAY 02: Ride from Daman to Sauraha 128 km Approx 4 hrs ride
The sunrise view from Daman will surely mesmerize you. The first sun light of the day falling on soaring Himalayan giants looks amazingly beautiful from Daman. Then after the breakfast, we set off for the day’s ride. The first section of the ride winds across the twisted road of Tribhuvan Highway all the way to Hetauda. From Hetauda, the journey continues along the inner plains of Nepal on Mahendra Highway. Finally, at the end of the ride we arrive to lowland hotspot of Central Nepal, Sauraha. Sauraha in Chitwan, the urban destination famous for catering wildlife activities has so much to offer. On our arrival at Sauraha, we first check into our hotel. Then we set off for the Elephant ride into the jungle, which is a wonderful opportunity to sight rare species like Tiger, Rhino and Gangetic dolphin among others. In the evening, we shall enjoy Tharu Cultural Show in our resort.
DAY 03: Activities in Sauraha
Today we will enjoy wildlife activities all day long. Starting with the jungle walk, which is opportunity to sight several species of birds and early morning jungle activities. In the afternoon, we shall go for the exciting Elephant Bathing Session in Rapti River. Then, in the late afternoon, we shall visit Elephant Breeding center, where we get see these giant creatures being trained and cared.
DAY 04: Activities in Sauraha
For the day activity at Sauraha, in the morning we can ride to the neighboring Tharu Villages, which allows us to experience the Tharu culture. Couple of hours of two-way ride to Tharu Village and back to the resort can be a wonderful way to begin the day. After the lunch, we take a short rest and then board a jeep that takes us deeper in to the jungle for the opportunity where can sight more species living in the wilds of Chitwan National Park. We won’t have a heavy day so after the Jeep drive; we shall chill in our resort.
DAY 05: Ride from Sauraha to Lumbini 129 km Approx 4 hrs ride
The journey on the road that goes across the woods of Churia Hills takes you to Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. On arriving Lumbini, we explore Lumbini Garden, Puskarani Pond, Mayadevi Temple and the monastic zone where several Buddhist nations have built wonderful monasteries. Experience the bliss out of peace at the birthplace of Buddha, Lumbini. After the exploration of Lumbini we ride to our hotel.
DAY 06: Ride from Lumbini to 75km Approx 2-3 hrs ride
The most challenging section of the ride is finally here. Today, the ride runs on the road of plain lowlands all the way to Butwal. Beyond Butwal the ride hits Siddhartha Highway, which is defamed for its extremely serpentine feature. However, the challenging ride doesn’t last long today as we take a right deviation from a small mid-hill town Bartung and reach ancient town Tansen. On arriving Tansen, we will ride into our hotel. Tansen is presently a Newari Town but in the past it was a powerful kingdom ruled by Magar Kings. We will ride up to Srinagar, which is a hilltop catering the view of Himalayas at its best. From west to east, Himalayan peak from far west Nepal Kanjiroba, to Langtang in the Central Nepal with Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Mansiri, Ganesh in between can be sighted.
DAY 07: Ride from Tansen to Pokhara 129km Approx 4 hrs ride
The ride across the snaky Siddhartha Highway continues. Carefully riding is essential. Ride pass highway towns and get amazed with the sheer cliffs. As we approach closer to Pokhara, the Himalayan peaks dominated by Annapurna and unique Fishtail come into the loop of our eyes. On arriving Pokhara, we straight away ride to our hotel in Lakeside. Stroll around Lakeside, the tourist zone in Pokhara.
DAY 08: Explore Pokhara
Today, we will ride to the major highlights of Pokhara. We begin the motorbike sightseeing tour, with the ride to Mahendra Cave and on the way sight Seti River Gorge. Then we ride to the hilltop Sarangkot, which caters exceedingly beautiful and widespread views of the Himalayas. Sarangkot is also the hub of aerial adventure and hence if you have desires to give a try to Paragliding go ahead at Sarangkot. Riding down the road that penetrates lush vegetation we arrive back to Lakeside. Enjoy the delicious lunch and then resume the exploration of Pokhara. Ride to Davis Fall explore around and then ride back to Lakeside for the overnight stay.
DAY 08: Ride from Pokhara to Kathmandu 200km Approx 6 hrs ride
The final day of the Mid-Nepal Ride takes numerous twists and turns on the Prithivi Highway that stretches right above rushing Himalayan Rivers most of the times all the way to Nepalese capital, Kathmandu. Rural culture, river landscapes blended with forested land are the major highlights of last day ride.
